New 2017/18 crop! A regionless but very tasty early arrival.
Although tracability on this coffee is low and it is not a single estate, it is a top notch tasting Guatemalan. Good prep, consistent roast, very fresh and tasting notes to follow a traditional Huehue cup a bit lower acidity and not as diverse a flavor set as our ML huehues we are firing up as well but everyone here was a fan of the cup and one cannot argue with the price :-).
A prime example of a high grown Guatemalan.
Tasting Notes: A prime example of the classic Guat cup profile. Malty/chocolaty and sweet with just a hint of a winy acidity upfront. Very smooth and good from light to dark roasts. Medium bodied with pretty floral aromatics, a cup almost everyone will love.
Roasting Notes: Light/medium roasts will be a bit crisper with a little stronger floral tone upfront, a little more sweetness upfront. Right around second crack all the acidity is going to drop off and the cup turns much fuller bodied with pretty strong malty/chocolaty tones. Into second crack will introduce a nice smoky tone that almost turns the cup a little caramel like.
